How many different crafts is too many?

Birthday cakes galore!!

I am not sure when cake making became a bigger part of my crafting!! About 7 years ago I made a princess castle for my daughters birthday. That went down a storm with her and her friends but that was that!!

Then last December JLS were having their farewell tour and my daughters Christmas present was tickets to the show so to coincide with this I made her a cake inspired by the boys as well as some matching cupcakes.

Shortly after seeing this other people had birthdays and requested me to make similar cakes.
So the last few weeks I have been more occupied making cakes than cards so have not had time to blog. Here are a few of the cakes I have made the last few weeks.

This was one I made for a friends birthday and had a chocolate fudge cake base and was topped with chocolate fondant. The side was covered with milk chocolate fingers. The cake was finished with Smarties, Twix mix and Mars Planets.

This one was commissioned by my crafty friend Lynne for her sons 18th birthday. His favourite colours being purple and green. This time around I used Kit Kats instead of chocolate fingers around the side of the cake. The cake base was again chocolate fudge with a chocolate fondant topping. The cake was finished with Smarties, Minstrels and Maltesers.

This one was commissioned for a daughters 16th birthday who's very girly and loves everything pink!! This cake was slightly different to the others as it had a Victoria sponge base instead of chocolate fudge and had a vanilla buttercream instead of chocolate fondant covering. The sides were covered with milk chocolate fingers. The cake was finished with Smarties, Minstrels, Dairy Milk Buttons, mini flakes and sugar paste flowers.
This one was made for a friends 50th birthday. This had a chocolate fudge base and chocolate fondant topping. The side was decorated with both milk and dark chocolate fingers. The cake was finished with mint flavour Matchmakers, mint and orange Aero Bubbles, Maltesers and a coconut Ferrero Rocher.
